Description from the seller
Olivetti Lettera 27 (1987) – Design Ettore Sottsass – Excellent condition with complete accessories and original transport cases
The Olivetti Lettera 27, introduced to the market in 1987, represents a significant example of Italian industrial design applied to late-mechanical production.
The aesthetic line of the body inherits the original project of the Olivetti Dora, signed in 1965 by Ettore Sottsass, a central figure in architecture and design of the twentieth century.
The Lettera 27 stands out for a two-tone geometric shell in light and dark gray, offering a minimalist aesthetic that coherently fits into the panorama of mid-century modern and contemporary interior design.
Condition Report
The offered specimen is in excellent conservation state, indicative of minimal use and proper long-term preservation.
Bodywork: The plastics maintain their original gloss, free of cracks, deep scratches, or chromatic alterations due to sunlight.
Mechanical: The inner compartment appears clean, free of oxidation or dust buildup on the hammers.
The machine is fitted with the original reels branded Olivetti.
Accessories and Extras (Collection Rarity) The value of the lot is increased by the completeness of the original period accessories, a fundamental element for philological collecting:
Original user manual: printed in the characteristic Olivetti red livery.
Carrying case: Rigid, black, with metal locks and a perfectly functioning handle.
Original locking devices: Included are the rare white plastic protective elements (the key-stopper comb and the T-block for the carriage). These components were supplied by the factory only for transport and were usually discarded by the final buyer; finding them still intact is a commercial rarity.
