Large-format Jacquard Tapestry – Rococo-style Gallant Scene – 20th Century

Large-format decorative tapestry woven in jacquard, featuring an elegant gallant scene inspired by French Rococo style.

The composition depicts two couples dressed in 18th-century attire, gathered beside a lake in a palace garden. The landscape is completed with a boat, classical architecture, an ornamental fountain, trees, and abundant vegetation.

It presents a rich color palette in greens, pinks, ochres, beiges, and browns, with numerous woven details visible in the dresses, the figures, and the scenery.

This is a decorative piece produced by mechanical jacquard weaving, probably during the second half of the 20th century. It bears no signature or maker’s label.

Condition consistent with its age. It has no holes, stains, strong odors, or restorations. The central areas are well preserved. The edges are unfinished and show wear, irregularities, and some loose threads, clearly visible in the photographs. A few superficial loose threads are also noted in the composition.
