A monumental and impressive large oval twin-handled serving tray, England, late Victorian / Edwardian period, circa 1890-1910.

MATERIAL: EPNS A1 - Heavy gauge Electro Plated Nickel Silver on thick copper base. NOT SOLID SILVER. This is confirmed by the 5 English pseudo-hallmarks on the back and the exceptional weight. High-quality A1 plating, still very bright.

This is a statement piece, much larger than the standard 60 cm trays.

- Two large cast beaded ring handles with foliate scroll mounts
- Central field finely hand-chased / engraved with 8 oval cartouches featuring floral, rocaille and foliate scrollwork, surrounded by engraved garlands
- Deep well, heavy gauge - typical of the best English makers such as Elkington & Co., Walker & Hall, James Dixon & Sons

HALLMARKS:
5 pseudo-hallmarks clearly visible (see macro photos) - including letter "B" and other symbols imitating Sheffield assay marks. These are typical trade marks used by English silver plate manufacturers in the late 19th century. Please see detailed photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
Length overall including handles: 76 cm (29.9 inches)
Width: 50 cm (19.7 inches)
Height of rim: approx. 3.5 cm
Weight: 4134 grams (verified on scale)
