Description from the seller
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. Kazaks of the 19th century were entirely hand-knotted in wool; these were carpets with a long, shiny pile and large geometric color designs that varied by the production area. During the 20th century, their beauty — both in colors and in original, imaginative motifs — was rediscovered, always created by memory by women who handed them down from mother to daughter, transmitting this great tradition through the centuries. It is in this way that Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching remarkable valuations and securing a premier position in the panorama of oriental rugs.
