A novelty Art Deco condiment set modelled as a figure of a person of African appearance carrying a basket-shaped cart, the cart fitted with two bucket-form vessels serving as a salt shaker and a pepper shaker. The figure is constructed from base metal with applied plating and cold hand-painting executed to simulate a patinated bronze finish. Cold-painted figural metalwork of this type and subject matter is closely associated with the Viennese decorative arts tradition of the 1920s; however, this attribution rests entirely on the seller's stylistic assessment and has not been independently confirmed. The salt shaker is cast glass in an orange honey-amber shade and the pepper shaker in a dark red or cherry shade; both have screw-on heads made of calite, a casein-based plastic widely used in interwar novelty and tableware manufacture.

Condition: Good. The set is intact and complete. The cold-painted surface shows light wear consistent with approximately a century of age and display use, including minor areas of paint loss visible in the photographs.
