Epoca vittoriana - Handbag

An antique mother-of-pearl shell coin purse dating from the Victorian era, late 1800s or early 1900s, commonly sold as a tourist souvenir of the time.
It is made from a real natural shell with a mother-of-pearl finish, equipped with a zip frame, a metal snap closure, and a decorative chain or wrist strap.
The inside is lined with red embossed paper, divided into accordion compartments, creating three small pockets to hold coins or small notes. The coins were a little smaller than today’s, and this little coin purse would have been perfect for keeping them safe; it’s a really nice place to store one’s cents.
