Fire mask - Dan - Côte d'Ivoire

An ovoid Dan mask worn during dances intended to protect the village from fires. These masks are recognizable by the red fabric applied over all or part of their surface.
Note that this remarkable mask also bears other materials and shows fairly pronounced wear, indicating ritual use.
