Description from the seller

The Ngombe of the Democratic Republic of the Congo developed a powerful art tied to initiation societies and communal rites. Their masks were used during ceremonies of justice, spiritual protection, and ritual dances intended to communicate with the ancestors. Carved with expressive and symbolic forms, these masks embodied protective spirits or figures of authority, playing an essential role in the social and spiritual balance of the village.

Introduction to our expertise house

Based in Belgium, our house of expertise and sales specializes in African art and ethnography. A reference seller on Catawiki for over 8 years, we benefit from a solid reputation and a history of several hundred sales with an almost 100% satisfaction rate.

We regularly assist with liquidations, successions and dispersals of collections, in collaboration with individuals and families in Belgium and neighboring countries. Our approach is rigorous, transparent and accessible, with sales often offered without reserve.

Some pieces that have passed through our hands have joined international private collections and, for some, museum institutions.

All of our collections are visible throughout the year at specialized fairs and exhibitions, but also through the online catalog of our gallery Héritage Galerie:
