AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Westerstrand – Swedish Mechanical Wall Clock – Töreboda, Sweden – ca. 1940–1950

An attractive Swedish mechanical wall clock made by AB Westerstrand & Söner, Töreboda, Sweden, dating from approximately the 1940s–1950s.

The clock has a rectangular wooden case with a beautifully figured veneer and carved decorative details at the top and lower corners. The front is particularly attractive, with a brass chapter ring and stylised Arabic numerals mounted directly over the wooden dial.

The round front door is fitted with glass and a brass frame.

The original mechanical movement is clearly marked:

AB Westerstrand & Söner
Sweden
Töreboda

The clock movement is in good working order and keeps time well.

The striking mechanism also operates correctly, but the gong/striking rods are missing, so the clock currently does not produce a striking sound. This is clearly mentioned for accuracy and should be taken into account by the buyer.

Apart from the missing gong rods, the clock is in very good condition for its age, with no significant damage. The wooden case, decorative elements, dial and glass are all well preserved, showing only normal minor traces of age and use.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

Dimensions:
Height: approx. 47 cm
Width: approx. 26 cm
Depth: approx. 13 cm

A very decorative and well-preserved example of Swedish clockmaking by Westerstrand, with an attractive period wooden case and original mechanical movement.
