Description from the seller

Elegant 19th-century antique frame, handcrafted in mahogany-toned wood, with an ebony-black finish and gold detailing on the inner profile.

The piece features a richly decorative composition, formed by multiple stepped moldings and carved elements with geometric and wavy motifs. The contrast between the deep black of the ebony and the gold profile gives the ensemble a sober, sophisticated aesthetic, characteristic of historical frames from this era.

The back reveals clearly the original wood and its traditional construction with mitered joints, as well as different marks and signs of use typical of its age.

The wood appears to be mahogany, although species identification is done by visual inspection. The black finish is compatible with an ebony treatment, historically used to achieve the appearance of ebony.

It retains an attractive patina and signs of age, including minor losses, wear, and traces of previous interventions, which should be considered part of its historical character.

A piece with a strong presence, ideal for painting, a mirror, or a collection of antique frames, and especially interesting for classic, historical, or eclectic interiors.
