WMF Jugendstil coffee/tea service – silver-plated – 4-piece – ca. 1903–1910 – 1,375 g

Lovely and complete four-piece coffee/tea service from WMF – Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Geislingen, Germany, dating from the early 20th century, circa 1903–1910.

The set is executed in silver-plated metal and consists of a coffee/tea pot, milk jug, sugar bowl and matching oval serving tray. The whole features an elegant design characteristic of the Jugendstil / Art Nouveau period.

Particularly attractive are the graceful openwork edges, the pearl decorations, the beautifully shaped handles and the characteristic spout of the large pot. The coffee/tea pot also has a hinged lid with a prominent ribbed knop.

Brand marks
On the underside are the original WMF marks, including the well-known WMF ostrich mark.

Additionally, the marking I/O is present. This designation was used by WMF on silver-plated objects and refers to the applied silvering quality.

Based on the design and the WMF mark used, the set can be placed in the early 20th century, circa 1903–1910.

Design
The set has a beautiful transitional style that strongly aligns with German Jugendstil.

Characteristic details include:

- light polishing and usage marks
- occasional slight discoloration or oxidation
- superficial utensil scratches on the serving tray in particular

These signs of wear are commensurate with age and original use of the set.
The silver-plated surfaces still have a beautiful luster, and the whole presents very attractively.
The handles, the sugar bowl’s hanger, and the hinged lid of the coffee/tea pot are present.
