Born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1945, Miyadera graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at Dairy Farming University and worked in the artificial insemination laboratory at the Shizuoka Prefectural Livestock Experiment Station. He has published “Alley,” a series of snapshots of ordinary people and their daily lives, and “Ideyu no Onna” (Woman in a Hot Spring), a collection of photographs of onsen geisha at an inn in Izu, both published by Norasha, a company headed by Kazuo Kitai and edited by Norio Osaki. This book is a collection of photographs published in 1992, and as the title suggests, it is set in “Paris. The forewords are written by the artist Mitsuo Ikeda and Yoji Yamada, a film director famous for his Tora-san movie. Here is an excerpt from Ikeda's text: “Miyadera's camera eye is not that of the elite, but that of the common people who are assimilated into the elite. This anti-heroic image, so to speak, proves that Miyadera's camera was in the true sense of the word, thoroughly attributable to the sensibility of the individual.
