Description from the seller
Pair of Baroque-style plant-pillar columns - carved and gilded wood with putti and vegetal motifs
Splendid and elegant pair of display columns for plants (guéridon / torchiere) in full Baroque style, made in the mid-20th century. The furnishings stand out for the rich, scenographic central shaft, finely carved with three-dimensional figures of festive putti supporting vegetal motifs, tendrils, and lush grape clusters, a symbol of abundance. The structure rests on a solid, curving tripod base richly decorated with volutes and foliate elements, while the upper part ends with a molded circular top, ideal for hosting vases, sculptures, or candelabra. Entirely finished with a gleaming gilding that lends warmth and visual importance to the pieces, these columns represent a pair of furnishings with a strong dramatic impact, perfect for imparting a touch of classical elegance to living rooms, entrances, or art galleries.
Material: Carved wood with gilded finish (possible contemporaneous details in wood paste for the finish of the faces)
Period: 20th Century (Baroque Style)
Conditions: The item presents in good general condition, structurally solid. Shows normal and light signs of age and wear, with minimal and fascinating patinas or small losses on the gilding that attest to its era and use (see carefully the photographic set).
