Description from the seller

Rare and very elegant Le Creuset gratin dish, produced in the 1960s as part of the work of Italian designer Enzo Mari for the Le Creuset France brand.

This piece is distinguished by its rectangular shape with generously rounded corners, its two sculptural side handles, and its superb orange-yellow color, typical of certain vintage Le Creuset productions. A beautiful example of the dialogue between industrial design and the domestic object, characteristic of Enzo Mari's work.

Features
Brand: Le Creuset
Designer: Enzo Mari
Era: 1960s
Manufacture: France
Material: enameled cast iron
Color: orange-yellow / amber yellow
Shape: rectangular with rounded corners
Type: gratin dish / baking dish

Its generous dimensions allow for family use while giving it a particularly interesting presence as a vintage design object.

Condition
The dish is in good overall condition for a piece from the 1960s, with excellent preservation of its orange-yellow enamel.
To note:
- a chip on the corner of one of the handles, clearly visible in the photographs;
- very small chips on the edge of the dish, visible in close-up views;
- some marks and superficial signs of wear consistent with the age of the piece.
These defects are localized and are precisely documented by the photographs.
The enameled interior shows a lovely patina of use, bearing witness to its history and use.

Enzo Mari’s design for Le Creuset
This dish testifies to the research conducted by Enzo Mari around the everyday object and its function.
The sobriety of the volume contrasts with the highly graphic treatment of the handles, which become true sculptural elements. The result is an object immediately identifiable, straddling the line between kitchen utensil and design piece.

The enameled cast iron, characteristic of Le Creuset, provides this dish with excellent thermal inertia and ensures even cooking, while making this piece a particularly durable object.

A collectible piece
With its orange-yellow color, characteristic shape, and signed handles with a distinctly 1960s aesthetic, this dish is a particularly interesting piece for lovers of vintage Le Creuset, industrial design, and Enzo Mari’s creations.
Naturally, it can be used in the kitchen, but it will also find a perfect place in a collection devoted to 20th-century design.

The photographs are an integral part of the description. They specifically show the chip on one handle and the very light chips along the edge. Please carefully review all photographs before purchase or bidding.
Weight: approximately 4 kg.
