AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Exceptional and highly sought-after pocket match holder from the Belle Époque (late 19th – early 20th century), a display piece highly valued by collectors of erotic silverware and galant arts.

Obverse: Decorated with an exquisite hand-painted enamel miniature depicting a classical female nude standing against a dark background, preserving excellent color, luster, and anatomical definition.

Marks and Punches: It bears the historic French swan hallmark (official guarantee mark introduced in France in 1893 to certify imported silver pieces of at least .800 fineness). On the inner upper edge of the mount is engraved the workshop and assembly number 85, characteristic of Central European artisanal manufacture (Vienna / Germany).

Mechanism: Upper hinged cover with original hinge and an operable inner closure tab. Lower base equipped with the grooved area intended for the match striker.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. The enamel is well preserved, with no severe losses or structural gaps affecting the miniature. The silver metal shows an attractive and genuine dark patina on both interior and exterior, attesting to its age.
