Description from the seller
An elegant antique English Tea Trolley or Serving Table from the early 20th century is offered, presumably dating from around 1900–1925.
The compact serving table features a distinctly decorative yet practical design. The top surface and the lower shelf are covered with green baize or a green felt-like covering. Especially nice is the fine gold-colored decorative border of the upper inlay.
Under the tabletop there is a spacious drawer with a decorative metal handle. The interior of the drawer is lined in contrasting red. Four turned legs connect the upper table portion with the lower shelf and end in metal casters, so the piece could originally be moved easily as a small serving or tea table.
The combination of dark wood, green cover, turned elements, and casters is typical for English Tea/Serving Tables from the late Edwardian era or early 20th century. Comparable English mahogany serving tables are generally placed in the early 20th century up to around 1920. A maker’s mark could not be determined on the present piece; attribution of origin and age is therefore based on construction and style.
Today, the furniture eignet sich hervorragend as a side table, bar/whisky table, small serving table, nightstand, or decorative collectible furniture.
The table is in an authentic, unrestored or apparently largely original age condition. Visible are age- and wear-related marks, especially discoloration, wear and use on the green inlays, as well as minor scratches, dents and signs of use on the wood. The casters also show age-related marks. These features are documented in the photographs and belong to the history and patina of the piece.
