Fragment of an Egyptian faience figurine or amulet depicting Isis nursing her son Horus
Ancient Egypt, Late Period (664-332 BC)
Height 6.4 cm (on stand 11 cm)
Fragment of a small Egyptian faience figurine representing Isis nursing her son Horus, known as Isis lactans.
The goddess is shown seated, holding the infant Horus against her and presenting the breast. She wears a long wig framing her face, as well as the hieroglyphic sign of the throne, characteristic of Isis, placed at the top of her head.
The figurine features a glaze in beautiful turquoise to blue-green tones, with color variations and a surface patina.
