corporate mark - Plate - Silverplated

A large, highly decorative vintage English silver-plated twin-handled serving tray by the renowned maker Viners of Sheffield. The tray features an elegantly shaped outline with an ornate cast rim decorated with floral and scroll motifs, flanked by two sturdy handles. The central surface is heavily embellished with beautifully executed chased floral and foliate patterns.

The reverse bears the clear and complete maker's marks: "Corporate Mark Alpha, Granted by the Cutlers Company 1836, Alpha Plate, Viners of Sheffield, England, Chased". (Please note: 1836 is the date the corporate mark was granted, the tray itself dates to the mid-20th century).
