A vintage Fresnel spotlight by A.E. Cremer, a French lighting manufacturer founded in Paris around 1920, renowned for its “SPOTAC” range widely used in French film studios and theatres from the 1930s–50s onward until the company closed in 1977. The Fresnel lens technology was pioneered for cinema lighting by Louis Cochet (collaborator of cinematographer Henri Alekan) and developed commercially by Cremer, becoming a standard fixture in post-war French studios — including, reportedly, the famed Studio Harcourt.
