Embroidered religious textile panel;
Decorative rectangular textile panel, richly executed with fine embroidery and appliqué. In the center is a large stylized cross, surrounded by exuberant floral and foliate motifs, including flower stems, leaves and tendrils. The embroidery is done in predominantly muted tones and has a lovely relief effect.

The panel is mounted on a sturdy cardboard backing and finished around with a decorative edge. The depiction and the use of the cross suggest that it may originally have been part of ecclesiastical or liturgical textile. Similar embroidered religious textile objects occur as components of paramenta and altar- or church textiles.
Dimensions 44 x 30 cm.

Condition: signs of age and use present; localized wear, discoloration and small damage to the textile and the backing. The whole is sold as pictured.
