AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very decorative and monumental European brass amphora from 1917, executed in an elegant neoclassical/historicizing style.
The vase has an impressive classical form with two tall volute ears, a beautifully profiled neck, floral garlands in relief, an oval cartouche, and a richly decorated foot. The faceted lower section gives the brass a beautiful light interaction and reinforces the stately appearance.
On the front there is an original engraved inscription including “AV VÄNNER” and the date 8/6 1917. This old commission gives the object extra historical charm and indicates that the vase was probably offered as a presentation- or commemorative gift.
Due to its generous size of about 50 cm high, this is not an ordinary brass vase, but a true statement piece. Large antique amphorae with this combination of classical design, rich relief work and original dating are offered considerably less often than smaller decorative examples.
The brass has a nice, natural patina and shows appropriate age and use traces. These have been deliberately preserved and contribute to the authentic antique character.
Magnificent as a focal point on a console, sideboard, mantel, or large cabinet. Also particularly atmospheric with a generous bouquet in a classic, brocante, country, or eclectic interior.
