Set of two ceramic table lamps by A.T.V. Grootebroek (Netherlands), ivory/creme glaze with urn-shaped ceramic bases, brass-coloured fittings, and fabric drum shades, differing in height but forming a harmonious pair; 230 V, 40 W, in good used condition with original label.
Description from the seller
Elegant decorative set of two ceramic table lamps from A.T.V. Grootebroek, Holland. The lamps are finished in a warm ivory/cream color and feature a classically formed, vase-like foot with a subtle crackle glaze finish.
Although the two lamps clearly belong together in terms of material, color and design, they deliberately differ in size. This makes them, together, a particularly attractive and playful pair. They can be placed side by side, but are also very suitable for use on two different occasional tables, consoles or nightstands.
The ceramic feet have a classic urn shape. Starting from a square base, the model flows through a profiled neck into a broad, rounded body. The upper part is also profiled and continues to the brass-colored socket and fitting. The glossy cream glaze nicely emphasizes the rounded forms.
An attractive detail is the fine crackle pattern visible across the ceramic surface. Especially in the detail photos it is easy to see how the network of fine lines runs through the glaze. This gives the lamps a characterful, classical appearance.
A.T.V. Grootebroek – Holland
On the socket is still the original label with the mention:
A.T.V. Grootebroek
Holland
230 V
40 W
Additionally, the CE marking and the symbol for double insulated electrical equipment are visible.
The presence of this designation is a nice detail and makes the Dutch origin of the lamps verifiable.
Lamp shades
Both lamps are offered with the shown light fabric lamp shades. The simple cylindrical/tubular shades pair particularly well with the classic ceramic feet and give the whole a somewhat more contemporary look.
When the lamps are switched on, the light of the shades softly disperses through the room. The ivory color of the ceramic also takes on a warm glow.
The photos with the lights switched on clearly show that both lamps are functioning.
Two different sizes
A notable feature of this set is the difference in height. The right lamp is clearly larger and more robust than the left. Because the material, color, glaze and design closely match, they form a harmonious whole in spite of this height difference.
The 75 cl cava bottle placed in the photos is for scale reference only and does not belong to the lot.
