Description from the seller
Large serving tray in tuya burl wood with inlays – Italian Mid-Century design, 1970s
Elegant and refined large Italian tray from the 1970s, made of precious tuya burl wood, a highly sought-after essence in high-quality cabinetry for the extraordinary richness of its grain, its characteristic natural “eyes,” and warm amber tones.
The entire surface is embellished with an elaborate inlay work, executed using woods of different tones. The composition features a large central circular medallion, bordered by a refined two-tone geometric band and internally decorated with racemes, leaves, and stylized floral motifs. Additional ornamental elements develop symmetrically on the sides, while slender perimetric inlays frame the top and emphasize its proportions.
The result is an object of notable decorative presence, in which the natural beauty of the burl wood dialogues with the precision of the inlay. The overall effect recalls the finest Italian artisanal productions of the Mid-Century period, when the aesthetic value of wood and the quality of craftsmanship became absolute protagonists.
The structure is entirely wooden, with a raised perimetric edge and practical sculpted side handles carved from solid wood, a solution as elegant as it is functional. Thanks to its generous dimensions, the tray can be used both as a service piece and as an important decorative complement.
The tuya burl wood presents spectacular natural three-dimensionality, with dense grain, knots, and marquetry that make each piece unique.
The conditions are very good for its age. There are light and natural signs of time and use, visible in the photographs, which in no way compromise the solidity, functionality, or overall elegance of the object.
Our interior designer/architect recommends this tray as a centerpiece with high impact, perfect on marble, walnut, or glass tables, or as an elegant decorative element above a sideboard, a credenza, a bar cabinet, or a coffee table. Ideal for Mid-Century, Modern, Contemporary, Eclectic, and Luxury environments.
Dimensions: 50.5 × 30.5 cm
Height: 5 cm
