Antique French Double-Helix Mechanical Corkscrew in Boxwood Wood – 1960s – For Collection
Fascinating and elusive vintage French mechanical corkscrew, dating from the 1960s, made of premium finely turned boxwood and fitted with a steel/chromed metal spiral.
Mechanism and Operation:
This model features the famous double-helix mechanism (double screw), designed to extract cork stoppers with maximum ease and effortlessness:
By turning the top handle, the worm penetrates the cork.
Subsequently screwing the second handle / central helix onto the wooden shaft, the cork is gently and gradually raised upward.
A vintage and traditional tool, ideal both as a display piece for collectors of antique corkscrews (helixologists) and as an elegant accessory to show off during tastings and dinners among wine enthusiasts.
