First edition.
Volume in folio. [First series] In folio; title vignette, [v] preliminary pages (illustrated title page, preface and index), with 48 plates in retinated phototype applied to supports of various types (white and colored paper), accompanied by printed tissue guards. Stiff illustrated covers and printed in color.

The plates are clear and in excellent condition, with the exception of the five sheets of white support and the tissue guards, which show foxing from slight to moderate, yet without compromising the image.

The illustrated covers are made of fine gray paper, printed and decorated in green, black and gray tones on a design by G. Auriol.
The spine shows signs of wear and edge loss, the front board with creases.

Art Nouveau design by G. Auriol;
Introduction by Émile Dacier.
Among the photographers are: C. Job, P. Dubreuil, F. Boissonnas, R. Demachy, G. Rey, C. Puyo, L. Misonne, A. Malle, H. Linck, A. Gilibert, G. Salle, A. Hachette, A. da Chuha and others.
One of the finest collections representing international pictorialist aesthetics.
