It is a photo by the renowned French automotive photographer Jean-Marie Ploton, taken during the race weekend and later printed by the Nice-based publishing house Jacques Ramel.
The Monte Carlo starting straight is captured, with Swiss driver Jo Siffert in the foreground aboard the March 701 Ford-Cosworth number 19. The Grand Prix, after Jackie Stewart's pole position, was won by Jochen Rindt. It was also Bruce McLaren's last race before losing his life on track a few days later.
