Description from the seller

Collection of 14 antique and vintage T-shaped corkscrews with advertising and one with a bone handle and brush

Description

Collection of 14 antique and vintage T-shaped corkscrews, dating from presumably the late 19th to the middle of the 20th century.

The collection consists of several simple metal wire corkscrews, several of which feature old advertising inscriptions. Visible mentions include:

* Albert Heijn
* Cointreau
* Your liquor store and wine trade
* An advertisement from a drugstore in Alkmaar
* Various other legible trade and advertising inscriptions

The standout piece within this collection is a larger corkscrew, presumably from the late 19th or early 20th century, with a handsome twisted bone-like handle. On one side is still the original brush. This was used to remove dust and remnants of varnish or wax seal around the neck and cork of a wine bottle.

The bone-like handle shows a beautiful natural patina and signs of age. The brush is still notably well preserved. The steel coil is complete but shows oxidation and patina.

All corkscrews are in used, authentic condition, with normal signs of aging such as oxidation, discoloration, wear, and locally legible inscriptions. They have not been polished or restored.

* Quantity: 14
* Type: T-shaped corkscrews/direct pull
* Materials: iron, steel and presumably bone
* Period: presumably circa 1880–1960
* Particulars: various advertising inscriptions and one specimen with bone handle and brush
* Condition: used, with natural patina and signs of aging
* Origin: Europe, mainly the Netherlands

The photos are an integral part of the description. Carefully packed and shipped.
