Heart-shaped photo locket medalion – 925 sterling silver – Europe, first half of the 20th century

Elegant and romantic antique heart-shaped pendant locket, made in 925 sterling silver, as evidenced by the visible hallmark on the piece.

The locket features a careful engraved vegetal and floral-inspired decoration, created by incisions on a surface that is partially polished and partially textured. The perimeter is finished with a fine geometric border engraved, creating an appealing decorative contrast.

The piece opens via a small lateral hinge, revealing two interior heart-shaped compartments originally designed to hold photographs, small portraits, personal mementos, or small relics. It also retains its articulated upper loop, decorated, intended for threading a chain.

Due to its construction, decoration, and typology, it probably dates from Europe in the first half of the 20th century, possibly around 1920–1940. The origin could be Central Europe, possibly German, although the visible punches do not allow absolute confirmation of a specific country of manufacture.
