Classical Roman Red Slip Pottery
An impressive and well-preserved Roman deep ceramic basin or bowl (pelvis), dating from the 2nd to 5th Century AD, belonging to the famed Terra Sigillata / African Red Slip Ware tradition.
Measuring 22.0 cm in diameter and 13.0 cm in height, this vessel exhibits a smooth hemispherical body supported by a low ring base. The mouth is defined by a heavy, out-turned flange rim (everted rim).
The surface displays the characteristic fine reddish-brown slip finish. The interior preserves untouched calcified soil encrustations acquired over centuries of burial in arid soils.
