Description from the seller

• Art Nouveau porcelain dessert service with thistles, late 19th–early 20th century

Description :

Complete dinner service consisting of 12 dessert plates (diameter 21 cm) and 1 compote dish (diameter 22.2 cm, height 12.5 cm).
The set is adorned with a delicate polychrome floral motif depicting thistles and stylized buds. The decoration is present at the center of each piece and rhythmically borders the edge on the wing.
The thistle theme was very popular among major French manufacturers (notably Gien or various Limoges porcelain and faience workshops).
The pieces feature a serpentine and festooned contour characteristic of the late 19th or early 20th century.
The rims and the center are outlined by a delicate gold line, adding a great deal of elegance to the whole.

Condition:
The painted decorations are very well preserved and retain all their freshness.
Note: the gold borders on the edges show wear from normal use (slightly worn with time, see last photo), evidence of the authenticity of this antique dinnerware.
No major chipping detected on the bodies of the pieces.
