Large Hellenistic Terracotta Figurine of a Draped Lady – Tanagra Workshop (c. 4th Century BC) – Custom Gallery Mounted
A fine and large Hellenistic terracotta figurine of a noblewoman, produced in the legendary workshops of Tanagra (Boeotia, Greece), dating to circa the 4th Century BC.
The figure is depicted standing in a serene, graceful posture upon a trapezoidal plinth.
She is enveloped in a thin chiton and a heavier mantle (himation) draped diagonally across her body, held tightly in front with subtle, flowing folds.
Her head is crowned with a high, voluminous hairstyle (melon coiffure), showcasing the sophisticated fashion of the high Hellenistic period.
