The Harman Kardon HD 740 CD player requires a small mechanical overhaul. The optical block (laser) is in perfect working order: when the tray is opened manually, the read head rises, the motor spins and the disc is read normally. However, in normal operation with the tray closed, the optical block does not rise automatically as the tray retracts.
