Taperstick - Gilt bronze - The Dragon: 1850

Ostrich egg mounted on a foot of gilded bronze, decorated with a dragon, of neoclassical or mythological inspiration. The hollow egg, fixed to a bobèche, fits onto its base, in the form of a candlestick, adorned with a fantastical creature sculpted on its baroque pedestal. This type of piece from the mid-19th century, with the exception of the egg which is later, fits perfectly within the tradition of cabinets of curiosities. Dimensions: 30 x 14 x 12 cm.
