Fascinating sculpture depicting a winged putto in flight,
completely carved by hand in wood and finished with polychromy and gilding.
Early 20th century
The work gracefully and elegantly reinterprets the classical canons of Baroque Italian devotional art, showing soft lines and a dynamic movement of the body and the gray-silver drapery that envelops him.
The details of the face, the finely carved curly hair with gilded highlights and the expressiveness of the eyes give the statuette a sweet and evocative character. The wings preserve rich gilding that enhances the details of the feathers.
