Frame - Antique 19th‑century gold-leaf decorative piece

Elegant and refined antique frame of Italian artisanal manufacture, dating from the late 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. The frame is distinguished by its undulating, shaped line with raised corners and profiles ("orlicchiata"), typical of the Barocchetto and eclectic taste.

Entirely hand-carved in solid wood, it features a splendid gold leaf gilding. Time has granted the object a magnificent lived patina, allowing the underlying red bole preparation to show through in several spots, a feature that enhances its charm and authenticity.

The back reveals the genuine period construction with the corner joints typical of antique carpentry and retains an original ring-shaped hanging hook. It presents in good structural and general conservational condition, with slight and physiological signs of aging and very small losses of gilding that testify to its antiquity without compromising aesthetics. A piece of great class, ideal for enhancing antique paintings, looking glasses, or to be displayed as a standalone decorative furnishing item.
