Grand drapé appliqué Asafo / Frankaa - Fante people, Ghana - Figurative & mythological Scene - 159 x 115 cm

Imposing African tribal art textile in fabric appliqué, authentic creation of the Fante people (Ghana, West Africa).
This large piece illustrates the Asafo narrative art. On a black cotton ground, a lush composition of appliqué motifs in multicolored textiles (yellow, red, blue, green) enhanced by manual outline embroidery (stitches visible from the back) depicts a giant mythological bird surrounded by anthropomorphic figures with arms raised and disjointed legs, offering a very vivid color contrast against the black background.
