Description from the seller

A remarkable and elegant Jugendstil dinner service by Heinrich & Co., produced in Selb (Bavaria) during the early 20th century. This refined set stands out through its sculptural forms, harmonious proportions, and finely balanced decoration, representing high-quality German porcelain craftsmanship of the Jugendstil period.

The design features soft geometric lines combined with restrained botanical accents and deep, warm gilding, characteristic of authentic Jugendstil aesthetics. The gently flowing handles of the tureen and sauce boat, together with the carefully shaped rims of the plates and serving pieces, underline the artistic ambition of this service beyond purely functional tableware.

An outstanding feature of this set is the exceptional fineness of the porcelain. When held against the light, the plates reveal a subtle translucency, clearly visible in the photographs. This delicate translucence is a hallmark of high-quality early 20th-century German porcelain and reflects the refined workmanship and materials used in its production.

The service bears the green manufacturer’s mark “H & Co Selb Bavaria” as well as the red retailer’s mark of Sibler & Co., Münsterhof, Zürich, indicating distribution through an upscale Swiss retailer—a strong indicator of quality and original market positioning.

The main service is preserved in excellent condition, with clean surfaces, stable forms, and well-retained gilding. Minor age-related wear is limited and consistent with the period. Additional plates with small defects are not included in the main service and are therefore not part of this lot.
