Matchbox Models of Yesteryear, a 28-piece die-cast vehicle collection in original packaging, featuring a mix of early and later box designs and a variety of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Description from the seller
A diverse collection of 28 Matchbox "Models of Yesteryear" models, all in the original boxes. The special aspect of this lot is that several box generations are represented: the early orange and yellow cardboard boxes, the later cream-colored boxes with a window flap, and the burgundy boxes with a street-scene background. There are also a few examples in clear blister packs with hand-written model designations.
Represented include:
Passenger cars: Y-3 1934 Riley MPH, Y-6 1938 Mercedes SS, Y-15 1930 Packard Victoria, Y-17 1938 Hispano-Suiza, Y-18 1937 Cord 812, Y-19 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster, Y-20 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K, Y-20 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K (red), Y-24 1928 Bugatti T44
Commercial vehicles: Y-12 1909 Thomas Flyabout, Y-12 1912 Ford Model T (Colman’s Mustard), Y-12 Ford Model T delivery van (Lipton’s Tea, Harrods), Y-13 1918 Crossley (Coal & Coke), Y-22 1922 AEC S-Type Omnibus, a BP tanker, a Kemp’s Biscuits delivery van, a Goodyear lorry (Transcontinental Motor Express) and a green truck with jute sacks
All models are die-cast metal with fine details such as spoked wheels, lithographed advertising prints and separate bumpers and lamps. A beautiful, varied collection for the Matchbox collector, featuring both classic sports cars and historic advertising vehicles.
