Società Ceramica Italiana Laveno – Kitchen set in glazed terracotta – Italy, circa 1940-1960
Elegant and complete vintage kitchen set produced by Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno (S.C.I.), a major Italian manufacturer active in ceramic production in the twentieth century and later acquired by Richard Ginori.
The service consists of 4 containers with their respective lids:
- Coffee
- Sugar
- Fine Salt
- Pepper
The two containers intended for coffee and sugar are larger; those for fine salt and pepper are smaller.
Made in white glazed ceramic, they feature a bulged, slightly scaly shape, resting on a geometric base. The lids are shaped and finished along the rim with a thin gold decoration.
The surface is embellished with small floral motifs in brown/gold and with the inscriptions in an elegant cursive font, typical of the Italian domestic production taste of the mid-20th century.
On the bottom is present the mark of the Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno, visible in the photographs.
For stylistic characteristics, mark type and decoration, the set is attributable to mid-20th century production, plausibly the 1950s.
The service presents itself in good general condition, particularly considering its age. The ceramic retains a beautiful glossy surface and all containers retain their respective lids.
An interesting example of vintage Italian domestic production, suitable for both collecting and as a decorative element for a retro kitchen or a setting furnished with 20th-century furniture and accessories.
Professional and express shipping.
