Mercedes-Benz 220 – NO RESERVE, 1972 model year.
Description from the seller
GENERAL:
Special "time capsule" Mercedes-Benz W115 220 with a fully documented history. This honest and unspoiled classic offers a rare combination of originality, provenance and meticulous maintenance. For the enthusiast seeking an authentic Mercedes with a story, this is an exceptional example.
HISTORY:
This Mercedes was originally delivered new in Germany and later exported to the dry state of Oregon (USA). There the car has been in the hands of only two owners. The last owner has cherished and excellently maintained the car for decades. As a precaution, he recently had the engine overhauled, purely out of regard for the technology and not due to defects. The full service history, including invoices from new, is attached to the car.
BODYWORK & PAINT:
Thanks to Oregon’s dry climate, the bodywork is in exceptionally good and completely rust-free condition. The underbody is clean and dry as well. The chrome trim is in very nice condition and contributes to the car’s classic appearance. The car sits on new tires with classic whitewall design, which completes the period look.
TECHNICAL:
The car is equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine and is in very good mechanical condition. The recently revised engine runs smoothly and the car drives and shifts as it should. Everything points to careful and consistent maintenance over the years. Although the car functions excellently, it has seen little use in recent years, so a check before heavy use is recommended.
INTERIOR:
The interior is fully original and in particularly tidy condition. The iconic ivory-colored steering wheel and the original Becker radio give the car an authentic atmosphere that perfectly fits the era in which it was built. Also under the hood and in the cargo area the car is noticeably well cared for.
DOCUMENTATION:
The car is supplied with exceptionally extensive documentation, including the full maintenance history from new and all accompanying invoices. It is also equipped with an American title. All import duties and VAT have already been paid, which facilitates registration within Europe.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a classic vehicle registered before 1996, meaning a CoC (Certificate of Conformity) is not required for registration within Europe. As with any classic, there may always be small points for improvement. We strive to describe our vehicles as honestly as possible and always recommend a viewing for serious interest.
COLLECTION:
The car can be viewed and possibly collected in Damwoude, Netherlands. Transport across Europe can be arranged in consultation.
A rare original and fully documented W115 “time capsule” – a tangible piece of Mercedes history for the true enthusiast or collector.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
