Coin with a commemorative design known as “Caravelle,” for the depiction of three caravels sailing at full sail on the reverse, symbol of Italy’s exploratory spirit. On the obverse a female allegorical bust of Italy with an elaborate Renaissance headdress, surrounded by a crown of shields representing the Italian regions. This coin was minted in silver and is one of the most emblematic of the Italian Republic in the twentieth century.
