Description from the seller
Chinese blue and white porcelain plate, hand-painted in underglaze cobalt.
The central medallion shows a bird in flight above bamboo grass, flowering sprays and rockwork. The cavetto is decorated with eight lobed panels of chrysanthemum and prunus sprays. The barbed rim carries a cell-diaper border with small bat reserves.
The reverse has freehand leaf sprigs and moulded panels. The base bears a four-character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue within a double circle.
The unglazed foot rim shows strong iron-red oxidation and kiln grit. The glaze shows typical fritting along the barbed rim. Please note that the four-character form of the Kangxi mark is also commonly found on later Kangxi-revival wares, so buyers are invited to form their own judgement on the dating from the images.
Dimensions: 20 cm diameter
Weight: approx. 400 g
Condition: used, with age-related wear. Glaze losses (fritting) at several points along the rim, in places reaching into the body. No cracks and no restoration visible.
Shipping: sent as an insured and tracked parcel, carefully packed in a double box with sufficient padding.
