Description:
Very beautiful French Art Deco fireplace garniture, consisting of a substantial mantel clock adorned with an impressive sculpture representing 2 stylized antelopes, with elegant and dynamic lines characteristic of Art Deco animal sculpture.
The sculpture features a patinated black finish, accompanied by two matching cassolettes.
Condition and restoration:
The set is presented in an antique state with normal signs of use and aging.
It is important to note that one of the two cassolettes has undergone an old restoration.
Some stone slabs have been reassembled and glued back together. Four small mounting screws are currently missing.
Despite this restoration, the slabs are presently held together and the cassolae retains its structure and decorative appearance.
There are signs of restoration, old repairs, small cracks, marks, stains and irregularities visible on some stone slabs.
The clock also shows age and wear, particularly on the dial and metal parts.
These defects are visible in the photographs.
The stone has been cleaned carefully, without attempting to completely remove the traces and patina tied to age.
The set features a remarkable geometric composition typical of Art Deco, created in a decorative combination of cream-veined stone/onyx and green onyx, with patinated metal elements.
The animal is depicted in motion, with an elongated body, sprawling legs and two long ivory-colored horns.
The sculpture has a patinated black finish and appears to be made of patinated cast metal, probablyRegule/spelter. The horns are ivory/cream colored.
The clock base is particularly decorative, composed of several geometric stone/onyx elements in shades of white, cream, beige and green, with beautiful natural veining. The stepped construction and geometric lines reinforce its Art Deco character.
The dial, geometrically shaped and trapezoidal with black stylized numerals and markers, features black stylized numerals/indices and a metallic edge. It is completed by Art Deco-style hands.
At the back there is a hand-wound mechanical movement with bell strike mechanism. The movement and its brass bell are visible in the photographs. A numeric marking is present on the movement, strikes once every half hour, and rings several times on the hour.
The two matching cassolettes repeat the same geometric architecture and materials as the clock. They harmoniously complement the garniture and, with the clock, form a particularly decorative ensemble.

Condition
Antique condition with signs of use and aging consistent with the age of the set.
The marble and onyx show a few small marks, dirt, and signs of use. The black patina on the sculpture also shows some wear on the protruding parts.
The dial shows wear and losses on some numerals/indices, clearly visible in the photographs.
The cassolettes also show signs of age and use.
Nonetheless, the set retains a very beautiful decorative presence, with a superb contrast between light onyx, green onyx and the black sculpture.
