Description from the seller
Giuseppe Armani for Florence – “Peacock”, 1989
Decorative Italian sculpture in polychrome porcelain, depicting a male peacock with its spectacular tail fully spread, made from a design by Giuseppe Armani (1935–2006) for the Florence manufactory.
The peacock is modeled with great richness of detail, especially in the complex fan of the tail, composed of numerous feathers layered and finely incised and hand-painted in tones of gray, green, black, blue, orange and yellow. The subject rests on a white porcelain element, fixed to the characteristic square wooden base with a veneer-effect top and black edge, bearing a metal plaque G. Armani.
At the base of the sculpture are the signature “G. Armani”, the FLORENCE impressed mark, the crowned N painted in blue, and the copyright 1989.
Model dimensions: approximately 39.4 cm tall × 40.6 cm wide × 27.9 cm deep.
Condition: overall good, but with some chips and small losses at the tips of the tail feathers, clearly visible in the detail photographs.
