Jemima Stehli - John Hilliard - Arguments - 2009

Although Hilliard and Stehli have produced together only a limited number of works, each of them is the result of a long phase of preparation and reflection; the series of five completed works (plus a sixth, which appears unfinished yet constitutes an essential component of the overall process) presents an episodic narrative structure and an almost transcendent resolution. Each photograph depicts a man and a woman (the artists themselves) engaged in some form of interaction. The main relationship is that between a camera and a mirror. Introductory text by Mark Francis.
