Description from the seller
Antique decorative door knocker – French neoclassical style
Beautiful and very decorative antique door knocker, made of brass and possibly originally gilded. The richly worked design is clearly inspired by French neoclassical, Louis XVI-like ornamentation.
Centered is a beautifully shaped female mask, surrounded by richly wrought floral and foliate motifs. At the top there is a decorative cartouche that provides space for a name or number. The symmetrical ornamentation and refined detailing give the piece a distinctly monumental and elegant appearance.
The combination of the female mask, foliage, garlands and classical ornaments is characteristic of French decorative art from the 19th and early 20th centuries, with frequent references to designs from the Louis XVI period.
Dating: circa 1950.
The door knocker is in good antique condition with visible signs of age and patina. The surface shows localized discoloration and wear, appropriate for age and use. A particularly decorative object that is not only functional, but can also be used as characterful wall decoration.
A fine example of antique French-inspired hardware with a rich, sculptural appearance.

The door knocker will be carefully packed and insured for shipment with track and trace!
