Description from the seller
Stunning Art Deco sculpture in frosted ceramic depicting an elegant pair of antelopes, with taut, stylized lines typical of Charles Lemanceau's work (1905-1980).
The piece is animated by a refined contrast between the slightly granular white glaze and the gray and black highlights that emphasize the horns, hooves, and eyes.
Signed "LEMANCEAU" on the base. Circa 1930/35.
Dimensions: 33 x 48 x 13 cm / 4 kg.
In very good condition, with no cracks or restorations.
This model is listed and reproduced in the reference work “Les Craquelés, les animaux en céramiques 1920-1940” by Patrick Malaureille, Éditions Massin, 1993, page 9, as well as in the Sainte-Radegonde earthenware catalog, page 8, which confirms its authentic and sought-after character among collectors.
Very beautiful collectible piece, ideal to complete an Art Deco interior or a collection of French animal ceramics.
