Description from the seller

Attributed to George Lilanga (1934–2005) – signed African artwork

A distinctive and colorful work attributed to the Tanzanian artist George Lilanga (1934–2005).

The piece depicts several imaginative figures and fish, built up from fine lines, patterns, and soft red, green, and yellow tones. The subject matter and iconography clearly align with Lilanga's well-known work.

In the bottom right corner the work is signed “Lilanga.” On the back is a handwritten title/text, presumably in Swahili. In it you can recognize, among other words, “biashara” and “samaki.”

Based on the signature, style, technique and subject matter, the work is attributed to George Lilanga. The attribution has not been officially authenticated, and the work is therefore offered as such.
