Antique Restoration-style sofa, carved in solid walnut. This piece, dating from the mid-19th century (circa 1830-1840), is an excellent example of the period's cabinetry art.
The sofa stands out for its elegant and imposing 'slip' structure, characterized by curved, finely carved armrests. The woodwork is particularly refined, with diamond motifs and floral volutes adorning the armrests and the front. The wood, in solid walnut, features a beautiful dark patina and a well-preserved surface, testifying to its authenticity and the quality of the materials.
The structural conditions of the furniture are very good, solid and stable. The original upholstery in floral fabric, while showing signs of wear due to time, can be preserved to maintain the piece's authenticity, or can be easily replaced by an expert to suit a more modern taste.
This sofa is not just a piece of furniture, but a historical testimony of the taste and craftsmanship of the Restoration period in France.
