Description from the seller
TITLE
Pair of 800 silver salt cellars with removable glass inner dishes and a coordinating small spoon – Italy – early 20th century
FULL DESCRIPTION
Refined pair of table salt cellars in 800 fineness silver, accompanied by their respective removable transparent glass inner dishes worked and by a small coordinated spoon.
Both salt cellars feature a circular shape with a rim decorated with a twisted motif and rest on three small ornamental feet, giving the set a pleasant classical character.
Inside there are two removable transparent glass dishes, each with decorative work on the bottom.
The lot also includes a silver spoon in 800 fineness, also decorated and bearing hallmarks.
The silver parts carry stamps and marks, documented in detail in the photographs. On the spoon the title “800” is clearly legible, accompanied by an additional maker or silversmith mark. Further markings are present on the bottom of the salt cellars.
Era: first half of the 20th century, approximately 1930–1950. The dating is proposed based on object type, style, and marks present; no precise year is given in the absence of original documentation.
Origin: Italy.
Material: 800 fineness silver and glass.
Lot composition: 2 salt cellars in 800 silver, 2 removable inner glass dishes, and 1 800-silver spoon.
Indicative measurements: each salt cellar about 6 × 3 cm; spoon about 6 cm in length.
Total silver weight: about 96.20 g. The stated weight refers to the metal parts without the two glass dishes, which have been excluded from weighing.
The items are presented in vintage conditions, with evident natural patina, oxidation, small stains, and normal signs of use and age. They have not undergone aggressive polishing in order to preserve their state and patina.
Please examine closely all photographs, including the close-ups of the hallmarks, which form an integral part of the description and faithfully show the conservation status.
